At the Cross

Michele Addino-Colchin

I stand beneath the cross, the cross of wood that drips of his blood

How could I be so full of grace, when I see my son, dying in disgrace?

Take me, Lord, take me, Lord, take me in his place

Take me, Lord, take me, Lord, take me in his place.

I look up and see my son, my son who saves and loves everyone

My heart his pierced, his pierced by a sword,

In bitter anguish, I pray, “Help him, Lord”!

Take me, Lord, take me, Lord, take me in his place

Take me, Lord, take me, Lord, take me in his place.

I remember the promise I made long ago, to be the mother of Jesus your Son

I said “yes” then, I’ll say it once again, I am your handmaid, Great I AM!

Take me, Lord, take me, Lord, take me in his place

Take me, Lord, take me, Lord, take me in his place.

Take him, Lord, take him, Lord, take him from this place, . . . Please

Take him in your grace.
